British-Asian artist Amina Art Ansari, whose paintings of the British royal family hang in Windsor Castle, has set up an art studio in Islamabad where she uses art therapy to help her students turn negatives to positives.

Strongly committed to diversity and equality Amina Art Ansari blends cultures through her art to bring attention to the colliding worlds in which we all live.
From her Eastern background to her Western surroundings Amina uses artistic forms taken from architecture and traditional patterns along with colour and her unique style of painting to create vibrant, energetic works that are in some of the most prestigious buildings around the world – from Windsor Castle to the home of the President of Zimbabwe.
Her latest collaboration with the British Army has taken her to the Indian Army Memorial Room at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to British Army barracks where she has been able to see first hand the diversity of creativity in their surroundings.
Her brief was to have a creative response to the statement ‘Recognising our Past for a Better Future’.
“During my time working with the British Army I have learned about not only who the soldiers are as people but also how they respect traditions and cultures. I have been privileged to have had access to sites and to people which has enabled me to look beyond the media interpretations and to make my own choices.
“As part of my research I have also spent time asking the British-Asian community of their opinion of the British Army and the result is incorporated into my work.
“I encourage any creative who thinks they know about the British Army to speak to them directly so that your work will be as authentic as mine.” Amina Art Ansari.
